It was a good week for music. Lots of free stuff was made available this week and some of it is good. I’ve sifted through the fodder and pulled some gems, both from artists that you heard of, and some maybe you hadn’t. Some singles, some mixtapes, some playlists, all pleasant on the ears. These are 5 downloads that you must hear. What you do with it after that is entirely up to you. Read more for the goodies and some good ole’ Teech liner notes.

I am not a DJ. This is not a mixtape. I do like to listen to music and I reminisce about the days when I would record songs from the radio. Most of the time, these tapes would be a random mash-up of hits and old jams, as well as obscure songs found deep with a retail tape. Think of these “episodes” the same way. Abrupt transitions, bad blends and little connections between songs, this is everything you don’t want in a mixtape; however, it is good music. Read more for the tracklist.

This isn’t a music blog, I promise. It’s just that I’ve been getting beat over the head with some great hip hop music over the past few weeks. I also don’t put up 90% of what I get hit with via email. This latest installment is an “eyes open” effort to make up for sleeping on Diamond District’s “In The Ruff”. This instrumental offering comes from the producer of that project, Oddisee
. Read more for the tracklisting, free download, and a bonus download of Oddisee’s “Odd Summer”.

You may remember KNO from various projects. For me, his Black Album remix, given away for free.99 on Okayplayer earned him a permanent position of prominence in the Book of Teech. Here on Music Monday we’ve got a new gem compliments of
QN5 Music. “Produced by Kno and featuring emcees Natti and Deacon The Villain trading verses with Evidence of Dilated Peoples and Bay Area legend E-40 about society’s uptick in chaos and violence, CunninLynguists‘ “Running Wild” is the official first single from Strange Journey Volume Two, the second installment of this year’s double release from the trio.” Read More for the clean version and instrumental.
